🌊 What is the NLPNP Skilled Worker Category?
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) offers a Skilled Worker stream to help local employers fill labor shortages by attracting international talent. This category is for individuals who have:
- A valid full-time job offer from an eligible employer in the province, or
- Are already working in Newfoundland and Labrador on a valid work permit.
✅ Who is Eligible?
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have a full-time job offer in a TEER 0–5 occupation.
- Be working or have a valid job offer for at least one year (usually two years preferred).
- Hold a valid work permit or be eligible to apply for one.
- Possess the education, training, and/or licensing required for the job.
- Demonstrate language proficiency (CLB 4 or higher for TEER 4 & 5 jobs).
- Show a clear intention to live permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Provide proof of settlement funds, if applicable.
⚠️ Who is Not Eligible?
You cannot apply under this category if you:
- Hold a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) (apply under the International Graduate stream instead).
- Have a criminal record or unresolved custody disputes.
- Are a refugee claimant or have a removal order in Canada.
💼 Employer Requirements
Your employer must:
- Be in good standing and actively operating in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Offer a competitive wage that meets provincial standards.
- Provide a genuine, full-time, long-term job offer.
- If necessary, obtain a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or Job Vacancy Assessment (JVA).
